I have a dead A7N8X Deluxe and was looking at it. I can't see a game port
connector on the back riser. Is that right? How would one connect in a
MIDI keyboard to a machine based on this MB?

Buy a sound card with a game port. Radio Shack sells a game port adaptor that plugs into a USB
slot for joysticks, but I don't know if it would work for MIDI.

I don't know about that particular board, but on my ASUS P4PE board, there
is a header on the board itself that a game card and USB add-on can attach
to. I had to order one off eBay because the used one I bought didn't have
it. Check out this auction for an example:

This is the auction I "bought it now". Don't know what the vendor's like,
but so far, so good. :) Haven't got the card yet, but I only ordered it
this weekend. He/she responded quickly to my questions about it, however.

ISTR that when I put a system together with this mobo there are
an AT bracket with a gameport on it, and a cable to the motherboard.
I don't do games, but it looked like it could. Go to
newegg.com, find the board, and click on "more information"
them, somewhere there's a link to a bunch of photos
for the item. Generally one is a picture of all the parts
that come with the board.

It has a connector on the board. Link:
http://www.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=A7N8X Deluxe Check the internal I/O
connectors. New Egg sells the port for $9.99+shipping. Search for Asus
USB2.0/Game Cable for Asus X-Series Motherboards

Sadly, many new builders "assume" instead of reading first.
