asus 4850 an Smartdoctor

Hi all,

I have just purchased an Asus 4850 . I use Smartdoctor to control the
fanspeed.

For some reason Smartdoctor wasn't running anymore and when I manualy
started it it gave a GPU processor temperature of 100 C! I wonder does
this card has some heat protection or could this actually break the
card? Meaning that when smartdoctor is disabled or crashed, you have a
chance of breaking your card due to overheating...

The 4850 will speed up the fan by itself when it starts a 3D game that
needs better cooling. No need for smartdoctor. If you want the default
speed to be faster then there is a method to do it and if you search google
you should find it. My 4870 default was 28% and I changed it to 40%. It now
runs close to 20c less hot. I have the instructions on my other PC so will
post it later if you say you can't find the instructions.

I'm waiting for my own 4870 to arrive (Monday, hopefully!) so I was looking
this up before I installed it. :)

As stated in the article, you may want to try leaving it at "Automatic"
rather than "Manual" as that has worked for some people.
