I have Win Messenger signing on with my Hotmail account
but would like it to sign on with my new high speed
Internet Provider email address. How do I get messenger
to switch to this identity? Thanks.

Greetings Jeff,

Firstly, make your ISP account a .NET Passport by registering it here:
http://register.passport.net

Now, if you want to "move" your contact list over, sign into Messenger using your current
Passport, click the File menu and then select Save Contact List. The default filename should
be fine, and just save it on your Desktop. Then if you are "moving" your contacts, you'll
want to delete them off your main contact list (after you've saved them), so that they can
remove the "old" address off their lists completely. Just right-click each contact, and
choose Delete. Then click the File menu again and choose Sign Out.

Then, click Start, then Control Panel, then User Accounts, click the current Windows XP
account that you're logged in under, then click "Change my .NET Passport", choose the "Use a
Different Passport" button and go through the wizard to set your account and password to the
new one. You can then sign into Windows Messenger (it'll sign in using the new account).
Then, to add the old contacts back, click the File menu, then select Import Contacts from a
Saved File, then locate the file you just saved on your desktop and select it. Your contacts
will be readded, and they'll all need to add the new name to their list.
