Can anyone direct me where/who I can get the hot-fix from
to resolve the issues I am experiencing with event log
files not appearing?

The event log appears to have 3,338 events in the
application section but they were not visable.

Upon further investigation into the issue, it appeared
that the event log file reached its predefined limit but
the events were not overwriting as specified in the event
log settings. All application log activity halted. Most
like the file became corrupt and as result were that none
of the events were viewable.

Fom my understanding this is a known issue with Windows
2000 and SP4. Microsoft has a hot-fix for the issue but
don't know how I can get it.

Your assistance would me much appreciated.

The temporary fix;
You might try changing the file properties to "Overwrite as needed"

Then; Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Services|Event Log Service|General,
set the "Startup Type:" to "Disabled" restart the pc, then delete (or move)
the corrupt *.evt file(s) from %windir%\system32\config then set the Event
Log Service "Startup Type:" back to "Automatic", restart for effect.

The more permanent fix;

Clark,

To obtain the hotfix you need to open a support incident with Microsoft and request the hotfix for the article 829246. As long
as you only request the hotfix there should be no charge for the call.
