All,
Whenever I boot the family desktop Dell (using Windows 98), we get the
initial Windows 98 'advertising' screen, then we get a black screen with a
floating "Sync. Out of Range" box. We then hear Windows complete its
initialization (the tones).
I do not see any Windows 98 publich support group, thus the reason I send
the request to this group.
How do I get out of this situation since I can't "see" anything on my
monitor to fix the situation?
I know that my son was changing the display colors from 16-bit to 256 colors
(to play a game). Before this he noticed that not all the icons fit on the
screen - I imagine that this would imply that somehow the screen area was
set for 640x480 or 800x600.
I think I understand how we got into this situation, but I have no idea how
to get this all rectified.
Any assistance would be very much appreciated.
Regards,
Mitch
