How do I assign a UNC name such as \\MyServer\MyFolder to a folder on my
hard drive?

Thanks!

You don't assign it. It's there automatically when you create a directory.
The format is:

\\machinename\directoryname

So if you name your computer MyServer and create a directory on it called
MyFolder and share it, then other computers on the network can map to
\\MyServer\MyFolder.

Thanks for the quick response!

I'm using WindowsXP. Where do I assign the name to my computer?

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop (if it's not there, right
click the desktop, click properties, click the Desktop tab, then the
Customize Desktop button and make sure My Computer is checked) then click
Properties, click the Computer Name tab, click the Change... button, then
fill in the Computer Name box.

Thanks, Tom!
