I want to gain a thorough understanding of how assembly references work in
VS/.NET, but I'm having trouble locating an article that exhaustively covers
this subject. Can anyone point me at a resource that I can use to gain this
understanding?

No need to feel embarassed, Chris. Knowing where to find information is half
the battle, and we all share that knowledge, and need help finding it from
each other from time to time.
