ASPI manager?

Trying to do a firmware update for my Artec cdrw which has been refusing
to eject audio discs after burning since I got it. I downloaded the
installer and firmware but when I click the installer it says

not found ASPI manager

What where who why? Could this be the reason for the drive not working
quite right? Is there a way to check whether I have it or a way to
install it? I did find something which was supposed to check for it but
it just opened a black (dos?) window and closed immediately.
