aspi layer

I have XP home ed. andI tried opening up a MyDVD program
and it tells me application error 1325 unable to find
aspi manager. I have gone into Sonic web support as well
as Dell and one tells me that XP doesn't come with an
ASPI layer and to down load off of apatec mwebsite and
dell tells me to uninstall and reinstall software MyDVD.
Is it true that XP doesn't have a ASPI layer and will it
conflict with XP if I download it.
