when I reloaded windows xp and optimized it, found that
an user account was created "asp.net". I am looking for
information on what this account is used for?

Look to the MicroSoft Knowledge Base, linked below. In the search box,
type ASP NET
 
Chris,

After installing the .NET framework, I simply deleted this user, since it
was doubtful I would ever need it. If, in the future, I do, how would I go
about re-creating the user account without having to re-install the .NET
framework?
