Hi

Can anyone recommend a good ASP.NET book for someone with good classical ASP
skills? I'd prefer one that isn't based too strongly on Visual Studio.

Any suggestions?

A good practice before you buy an asp.net book is to start by reading
customers reviews of the book.
I use amazon.co.uk (i'm in europe) and usually the reviews reflect what the
book is worth.
Good books tend to have good reviews.

My experience is that no one book perfectly covers all the aspects of
asp.net .

Since you are classical ASP programmer , then i would recommand

-Developing Microsoft ASP.NET Server Controls and Components(nikhil kotari +
Vandana Datye)
-Essential ASP.NET with Examples (Fritz Onion)

There probably scores of good books out there but these two books are
essential in my opinion.
