Asp.net user account

Just a quick note:
I apologize for asking the same question that everyone
seemed to have found the answer to. I ran a search in the
NG and found my answer. For the Microsoft .Net Framework.
I get that what I don't get is WHY is it a user account
and exactly what information does this account provide to
sites?
I do not have a web server on my home computer so I am
not sure why I need this?
If I wish to remove the user is there some type of
password I will need?

You can remove the user account - no harm. It will be required only when you
write ASP.NET based programs (which require IIS web server) on your
computer.
