I looked at some hidden files and found the yellow sign with the black
exclamation point on "ASP 132." So according to MS troubleshooter I deleted
it and tried to re-install but, no go. Tried to find out what "ASP 132" is
but no luck. From what I have seen is that ASP is acronym for "Advanced
Server Pages."

Having deleted it seems not to have affected my computer -- yet!

Can anyone tell me what it is, and is it vital, and where can I find it?

Hi, Slowtrot.

Are you sure it said "ASP 132"? Or could it have been "ASPI32" - with a
capital "I" rather than a numeral "1"?

From the Glossary on the website of Adaptec, which invented it, ASPI means:
"Advanced SCSI programming Interface. A standard SCSI software interface
that acts as a liaison between host adapters and SCSI device drivers. ASPI
enables host adapters and device drivers to share a single SCSI hardware
interface."
http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/su...=no&language=English+US&prodkey=SCSI_glossary

And ASPI32 would be the 32-bit version of the ASPI layer. While this
originally was used for SCSI peripherals, as the name suggests, many newer
ATAPI drives are sometimes identified as SCSI. (I don't KNOW why; they just
are. :^{ )

Maybe that will make it easier to find your solution.

Nope!

Said ASP 132. I found references to it as Advanced Server Pages. However,
nothing else.

Hi,

If you are talking about asp files can you mention where did u find them and can u tell about ur computer and whether you have enabled IIS.

Don't know what IIS is?

It was found under "Hidden Devices" in the Device manager. It had the
yellow sign with the exclamation point on it. I tried the MS troubleshooter
and it gave me instructions to delete it and then reinstall. I followed
instructions but, could not reinstall.

I have a Dell 8200, MS XP Home, 768 RAM, 80 G Hard drive, I.9 Ghz
motherboard.
