A friend purchased a new Dell E520 with a copy of Windows Vista. A month
later he's decided that Vista isn't for him and wants to install XP and asked
me to help. Because this is a SATA machine I've puchased a USB floppy disk
and put the storage drivers onto it. He has purchased a copy of WinXP Pro +
SP2 (okay more money than sense but there you go).
So...
Once the install moves into the GUI phase it comes up with the message:
E\I386\ASMS
Incorrect Function
I've burnt about a dozen CD's, and even tried our corporate Disk and it
always comes up with that message. I don't know what ASMS does and wondered
if it was a chipset driver problem. Anybody give me a hint what the problem
is?
Thanks for any replies.
