Working on a computer for a customer: Running Windows 2000 pro. When trying
to use various windows features, like "search" a box pops up asking for the
Office 2000 CD, and specifically for the data1.msi file.

I don't think there is an office 2000 cd available, as it looks like it was
preinstalled, and the files on the drive are images rather than install
files, and the CDs are most likely the same.

And needless to say, these aren't really office applications that are
prompting for the CD, anyway.

Any ideas?

If the w2k files are images you should be able to burn those onto CD and use
the CDs. Normally with an OEM install there would at least be a folder with
MSI or CAB or similar files in it to use for updates. Sounds like you might
have an illegal install of W2K.
