Occasionally being asked to insert a disk when opening a presentation that
has been saved on the hard drive. Doesn't matter what disk i insert, the
presentation opens fine with any disk. This happens with all ppt files on
the c drive.

It sounds as though you've somehow got either a link to a file that once came
off the disk drive in question or the most-recently-used list is looking for a
file there.

Simplest first:

Open ten or so files off the hard drive one after another.
Then quit PowerPoint and restart it.
If no joy, create a new Blank presentation, add a little text and nothing else.
Save it to the hard drive. Quit PPT, restart PPT and open the presentation
you just saved. Do you still get a request for a disk?
