I write again about this garbage AS Beta. I've safe-mode
cleaned, regular cleaned, bought more cleaners ... what a
joke. I click my Internet Explorer, and pop-ups start
the moment my home page loads. I exit, and then,
clicking the Explorer again, a BHO!! surprise ... every
time. I go to AS Beta, tools, restore my MS settings,
and I can get my regular home page back ... but only that
one time ... I have to manually reset my MS restore in
Beta advanced tools EVERY TIME, but MS can't figure out a
way to get rid of this thing in the Registry Key AFTER
WEEKS OF SEEING TONS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME
PROBLEM!!!! And for that idiot who tried to tell someone
else they shouldn't have down-loaded the AS Beta because
it was a test? ... I'll defend the "down loader" where we
weren't told it was a test, with bugs, and no way to
reverse the damage. I have wasted HOURS with this
garbage. That's time I'll never get back because of MS
.... This thing disabled my firewall, and I can't get that
back ... This thing converted my register keys, and I
can't restore them to prior to installing AS Beta ...
This thing is garbage ... Unfortunately, anyone who's
here now, it's too late for them. They've got this p.o.s.

Hi Chopperzb,

Hit F8 when booting, and run it from safe mode. Have you a current updated
AntiVirus program running? have you gone to TrendMicro or Panda Software
and done an online scan?
Should you decide that this program isn't for you, I will give you my
boilerplate advice, should you accept it, that you should use the program
which best does the needed work for you, and that you are most comfortable
with.

That said it is a BETA product, and one can always get unexpected results
with a BETA of any software product.

May I also suggest:
Boot into Safe Mode (F8) at startup;
Empty your temporary files AND your Temporary Internet Files* C:\Documents
and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files folder ;
Run the scan while in safe mode;
If you are running SP2, open IE--->Tools--->Manage Add-ons, and uncheck any
BHO's that you don't recognize.

*The .tif are Temporary Internet Files, and are stored in a different barn
than 'normal' temp files.
Here's how I kludge thru to them: Open Windows Explorer--->C:\Documents and
Settings. Then it's to the Tool Bar--->Folder Options--->View--->Hidden
Files and Folders and check the box "Show hidden files and folders" > Now
expand C:\Documents and Settings and under each user you will now see a
folder "Local Settings". Open that puppy and choose Temporary Internet
Files. I am not concerned about the cookies therein, but everything else
can go for now.

You probably have a trojan(s) reloading this BHO hijacker and will need to
run a reputable AV as well as clean out ALL temp files and disable system
restore. YOU WILL NEVER eliminate this problem until you get ALL temporary
file locations cleaned out and your registry cleaned up too. ccleaner.exe
is a good tool to help you with this.

You have been thoroughly compromised and will have to do more than any one
program can help you with regardless of company.

Here's something else to try:

Call Microsoft PSS and ask them how to get this cleaned properly.

I'm not sure this will be within the boundaries of their free support for
virus or security patch issues, but I think it might be, and I'd love to
hear how they do.

In the U.S. or Canada, call 1-866-pcsafety. In other parts of the world,
call your local Microsoft subsidiary. The call may not be toll free, but
the help will be free.

Note that they cannot provide support for this beta product. However they
will provide support for issues involving removal of viruses, which some of
what this product removes qualify as.

In situations like this, you have to turn off System
Restore b4 going to safe mode for SM to be effective.
Remember to turn on SR after you reboot.
