The trouble with Tom's Hardware is that it is full of detail.

Detail is a bad thing?
LOL.

The website http://www.short-media.com/review.php?r=272 was really godd
in that it boiled all the raw data down and added a specialist
understaning. This produced some good, straightforward info.

Is there anything else like this for choosing cpus or even system
components?

Boiling it all down will tend to make the *answer* less
accurate. You need to consider your particular, most
demanding tasks, including the specific application titles
and version of those apps.

The best choice depends on it, you can't take some generic
average and apply it to a specific situation when the
platform and cpu architecture is different. The best CPU
for one person is not the best for another... hence why we
have more than one to choose from.
