I'm the sysadmin for our office, and we have an Access2003 database on the
server that is shared by many users. I created a shortcut to the desktop
for a new user and opened the db. He got those stupid security questions
right off the bat and I know I need to go to Tools, Macros, Security, and
lower the level to stop those messages from coming. But not thinking, I
went to Tools, Security, Userlevel Security Wizard, and started running the
wizard, quickly realizing I was in the wrong place, I stupidly hit Finish.
Well, ever since, noone, not even me, can open the database now.

"You do not have the necessary permissions to use the {db name} object.
See your system administrator blah blah blah."

Please advise!!!!

Check in the folder where the mdb is located. The wizard may have created an unsecured backup of your mdb (it'll have a bak extension).

You just need to change the name back to have a mdb extension. In addition, you may have to go into Tools, Security, Workgroup Administrator and ensure that your current default is set to system.mdw.

Doh!
Thanks Joan, you're my savior!
