Hi,

I am looking for a win32 freeware program which would function in the
similar fashion to Unix arpwatch (http://www-nrg.ee.lbl.gov/) -
passively listen on the LAN and make a list of active MAC addresses.

Thanks

addresses.

What about arp -a from a dos box?

No. The idea of arpwatch is that it listens for LAN packets
over a period of time and extracts MAC addresses. In order to have arp
-a work, you would have to first ping all machines on your LAN, which
will populate arp table. However, if you have a device on your LAN
which is firewalled, it won't respond to a ping and subsequently won't
show in arp table. I suppose I could use ethereal, but it would be an
overkill.
