I got an Armada 1750 it is model 6366/T/6400/D/M/1 The prolem is the system will not boot to the hard drive without the XP CD in the D: drive. I know Compaq's usually have 2 partitions, but this one only has one. I think the previous user deleted one when he wiped the hard drive clean. Is there a restore diskette I need or is there something I can download to boot up normally. The Hard drive is ok. Any help is appreciated.

It sounds as though the system is set with the CD-ROM first in line in the
boot order in the system BIOS. Some systems, when set to boot from the
CD-ROM, won't check the hard drive thereafter. When the system boots, you
should see a screen that contains a message about entering setup and a
specified key to hit to do so. When you see that, hit the specified key.

You will then have to navigate around until you find boot sequence. When
you do, place the hard drive first in line in the sequence, save and exit
the system will reboot and this time it should boot from the hard drive.

NOTE: if you ever need to reinstall XP and you have retail version of XP
which has a bootable CD, you will need to repeat these steps but place the
CD-ROM drive first in line for this purpose.
