'arking' of comp screen

My comp. screen has closed in so is smaller in size, with
a black background around its edges, is this to do with
cold air in the room, where 'arking' occurs. What shoud i
do??...I try to keep a blanket around computer when its
turned off, but i think the damage is done.

Also am getting a blank microsoft advert or 'spam' message
which is titled 'blank'. Keep getting it when on internet.

Also get a message 'microsoft internet explorer has
encountered an error - error signature...One example is
AppNameiexplore.exe

PLEASE HELP
 
You need to keep an electric blanket around the monitor and keep it turned
on HI
