Are these legitimate MS programs?

I just installed McAfee Firewall. it keeps telling me that some
programs I know nothing about, e.g., lsass.exe, services.exe and
spoolsv.exe, all want to connect to the Internet. Ae these legitimate MS
programs in Win 2000, or are they viruses that are in an WINNT
subdirectory? McAfee doesn't think they are viruses, but I can't
imagine why a spooling program on a PC that is not hooked up to a
network would need the Internet. Thanks.

Greetings --

Do you have Win2K configured to automatically connect to the
Internet to check for updates?

Those are all legitimate Win2k services. Just after
installing Win2k if you look at what's running without any
new software installed, you can see isass.exe and about a
dozen others that are always running (do ctrl+alt+del once
and click processes to see what's there). You can look up
these programs in the MSDN library or the knowledgebase to
find out more.
