Are there ways to prevent access by others to a newly created user account?

I have three user accounts on my WinXP SP3 pc - one is an
administrative account, one is the default Guest account that I have
never used and a newly created FAA user account.

This new FAA account contains passwords and other apps/files
that I would prefer be private and accessible only to me.

Is there a way to hide or otherwise prevent others from accessing this
user account?

I have never previoously had a need to deal with multiple user
accounts and am a total novice.

Any suggestions/guidance would be appreciated.

The easy way
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307877

The more secure way:

What does "contains passwords" mean? Do you have files that contain
passwords in clear text?

Depending on how the applications were installed, it may be a bit
complicated to restrict others from accessing them. However, it is
normally sufficient to restrict access to the data the application
processes rather than to the application itself.

Do you want to restrict access to the account or to the files?

If you assign the FAA account a password, only people who know the
password can log on to it. Once you have a user account that only you
can use, you can encrypt the files you consider private. And/or you
can move the files to that user's "My Documents" folder which is
normally protected from access by other non-administrator users.

If others will use the account, then you will need to encrypt the
files. I suggest using a tool that lets you specify the
encryption/decryption key. You may have to manually decrypt the files
but you should have less problems backing up the data and recovering
it on another machine.

Remove the Guest account: its a security risk.

Folder permissions. User Access Controls. Google those and you'll have
all the klews you need to succeed.

Yep: User Access Control. And setting Folder Permissions.
Learn it, live it, love it.

The TrueCrypt suggestion is another option as suggested by others...but
it can be a hassle and Micro$oft has built in tools to do what you want.
