Are there any suitable newsgroups to find developers?

If anyone knows of a newsgroup where developers could be contacted re
work/projects I'd be grateful for the information. I'm not finding it as
easy as I thought it would be to find one.

Perhaps I'm not using the right search terms....

What kinds are you looking for? To hire? Offshore? Contract?

Each are very differnet and thus there are different places to look.
