Are there any issues with the "order by" clause in Access 2000

Hi all,

quick question, recently converted an invoicing application from
Access 97 to Access 2000. Its compiled and running in 2000, except
the process to actually generate the invoices has started working
incorrectly. The wrong invoice numbers are being assigned and i am
fairly certain it is because the "order by" in a query sometimes seems
to be forgotten in Access 2000. I reverted back to 97 and the process
works fine.

I am running Access 2000 SP-3 DAO 3.6

Are there any known issues with Access 2000 and the order by clause?

Are you using the Last or First (or DFirst or DLast) functions anywhere?
Despite their names, these functions effectively return values from
arbitrarily selected records, even if you are using an ORDER BY clause. It
could be that these functions appeared to work as you had expected because
of the order in which the records were originally entered in Access 97.
Something might have happened in the conversion to change this.

For more information see Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 208190, "ACC2000:
First and Last Functions Return Unexpected Records" at:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;208190&Product=acc

Hope this helps.
