Are there any dangers in setting up SMTP services?

I have a application that needed to send out a e-mail from inside a webform
so I installed SMTP onto my Window 2003 server for IIS 6.0.

What security precautions do I need to set to insure nobody is able to use
my server to relay spam or any other activities that are undesirable?

I realize one of the other newsgroups may be better for this question, but I
am sure alot of us have had to send e-mail from a app and some of you may
know what the sensible security precautions are. My company is very
security conscious, so I do not want to get in trouble for setting up a
potential problem.

Make sure that your SMTP server doesn't allow relaying.
