I got 3 barracudas in use, twice 120 and one 200. I was planing buying a
400GB P-IDE soon, but some friend told me that new Seagate drives are
not as good as before, and mentionned stories similar to what I lived
with IBM 30GB, 40GB and 60GB: dead after 1 month use !

Troll ?
FUD ?
truth ?

if true, what are the alternative for P-IDE at least 300GB ?

Not according to storagereview.

I do not understand where the site mentions, or even could let
understand BArracudas over 200G are not so good.

I dont either find any reliability grid comparing manifacturers.
