"If you are experiencing slow transfer rates in MSN Messenger click here"
10 minuites to send a 144kb file.....this is a joke right.

never seen this before whats going on.......
yes I`ve read what its say on the link yet the rest of my surfing is fine n
fast...

and for these that want to read it without clicking...

If you are experiencing slow transfer rates in MSN Messenger, the reason
might be because you or the person with whom you are communicating are
behind a firewall or network address translator (NAT) that prevents a direct
connection to the Internet. Because your Internet service provider might be
using a firewall or NAT, you might be prevented from connecting, even if
neither of you are behind a firewall or NAT.

Greetings,

Not at all -- if you see that message what's occurred is your file transfer is going through
the Messenger server itself -- the same server which sends your text back and forth to your
contacts. If this functionality did not exist (new to MSN Messenger 6), the file would not
have sent. MSN Messenger 6 will attempt several different methods of attempting to transfer
a file, including utilizing UPnP support, trying to connect from you to your contact instead
of your contact connecting to you, and then finally will just send the file through the
server. The Messenger servers are optimized for text-based transfer only, and as such, when
you send a file through them, it is incredibly slow (but it gets there, which for an example,
AOL Instant Messenger couldn't).
