Are anti-virus updates complete?

Suppose I clean off my hard drive and reinstall all the software including
the original anti-virus CD. When I download the latest AV definitions
update, does that include all the updates created since the CD was made or
just the latest ones?

If you reinstalled your antivirus , with its original virus database ,it
would upon updating ,verify its signature date and download the complete
signature database to the present or latest update.

It will bring you completely up to date, though that first update will
likely take longer than most. For example, Upon installing NAV 2003, you
may have an initial virus definition update of over 2MB, but subsequent ones
will likely be in the 100-300KB range.

Your CD will install all definitions known at the date of issue. The
download/update will get you those written since then.
You will be fully covered.

Cheers.
