Are All I-frames a threat ?

I recently installed avast and whenever i get an html email from my isp i
get the following warning from avast
"<iframe> tag found, it may be dangerous ". Is this a real threat or just a
notification of a possible infection.in the email.

i hope this makes sense.........any info appreciated Mick

Email from (originated by) your ISP? Or do you mean you collected it
via your ISP?

The <iframe> can load a web page, which certainly can be malicious. If
these are email from friends, tell them to quit doing it. If you don't
know the people, delete without opening.

Better yet, use a modern, secure, email client, and set it to read
mail only in Plain Text. Then nothing can happen.

HTML email and a default-configured Outlook Express is dangerous. Web
bugs will tag you to a spammer so he can sell your valid address to
other spammers; you're never sure where a link will take you; and it
can automatically execute an attached virus. Bad news.
