Does this non-silicon grease need to be re-applied every so often, or
can be applied and forgotten? If the film ought to be re-applied, how
long before application, six months, a year or more?
The shop told me 6-7months, elsewhere it was said a year and half with
no problems of heating up. Room temps throughout the year can vary
10ºC ~ 45ºC! Thanks for your experience.

Apply and leave it alone....you'll have sold or upgraded before you
need to touch it again.
If there is a requirement to redo every whenever ... quit using the
crap. I haven't used that
version of it, I can't read the tube of mine as the lettering has long
since faded.
Now looking for an expiration date ;^)

If you check on the arctic silver website, I think you will find (throught
the FAQ) all the answers you need.
but quickly:
dont reapply, once its done its done.

That's one of the craziest things I've heard.

Ooops, missed that bit in their instructions page, sure sign
age makes you less thorough. Thanks for point it out.

Yeah they do! Nice comment. However, at €4.80euro, the 3.5gram tube
should be good for 15 spreadings on a Barton2500+. Also, when I open
it next week, and according to the literature, don't expect it to
squirt away unstoppably like those pharmaceutical pomades.

Apply and forget, unless you did it wrong in the first place. If
grease didn't last, then a lot fewer TVs and power supplies would last
10+ years. Don't obsess over this, especially since removing and
reinstalling an AMD or Pentium III style heatsink repeatedly poses the
risk of breaking the plastic mounting tabs or crushing the CPU slug.

I just ordered one from http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?
description=35-100-007&depa=1. Is this enough to apply one CPU? I assume I
would actually got a lot left. What do I do with the tube? Can it stay
intact for long time that I can use it again for my next PC?

Thanks,

Arctic Silver say to store upright (ie nozzle down) to prevent seperation
but I have arctic silver II that I have used for a few years now and still
seems OK.

Now I would sure like to know how storing it one way or the other is going
to prevent separation.
