Archiving XP MEDIA Center OS

I bought a SONY VAIO PCVRZ44G P4 2.8 Gig . I did not receive a copy of the OS software with the machine , how can I make a copy in case my hard drive crashes where I need to reload the OS? Also I should be licenced for a copy already since Sony did the install initially. Should I contact SONY to get the copy? Anyone with experience on this? I am experienced in rebuilding computers and reimaging hard drives.

Yes, you should most definitely contact Sony and insist upon a
means of re-installing your OS, in case the hard drive fails.
