Archiving - Recurring events

Good day,

How come "recurring events" (like birthdays, etc.) have been archived? Is
it because they were created in an older version of Outlook? Using XP - 2003.

Thanks for any help.
 
They should not have been archived if they still had upcoming
occurrences...in the case of appointments and events, the archive date is
determined by the date of the last occurrence, so it only applies to items
which have passed their end date.

If you open the Archive file you can drag those items back to your regular
calendar...

My Outlook 2007 also keeps deleting recurring events. It does not delete all
recurring events only some! This may be connected with archiving as it seems
to happen at about the same time. My auto-archive is set to store but doesn't
actually seem to remove anything, and the archive files are all empty. I am
also having problems when I sync my mobile device as Outlook often then
deletes the appointments from my mobile device too instead of putting them
onto my home computer. For the time being I have disabled auto-archive but am
seriously considering going back to a paper diary!

Are you sure you're looking in the right archive file? Check the properties
of the Calendar folder...if the archive file defined there is different than
the one in the global AutoArchive settings, the events would go to the file
specified for the Calendar, not the global one.

This is a long shot, but if you happen to be using a newer Dell laptop, you

The only archive file I can find a pathway for is:
C:\Documents and Settings\kickingkay\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst
when I try to import from this file using the direction in HELP Topics I get
a message saying "This Personal Folder file (.pst) is already in use in the
current profile." I have looked at the archive folder for the Administrator
of my computer and there is no data in it, no old emails or any calendar
items.
The sync problem seems to be very similar to the one posted by charlieman24
"problems with syncronizing with outlook data incomplete" in August 07 which
does not seem to have received any answers yet!
 
Unfortunately the help file is not very helpful when it comes to opening .PST
files in Outlook. Importing is not necessary; .PST is Outlook's default file
type, so you only need to open it, just like you would open a .DOC file in
Word. In Outlook, go to File | Open | Outlook Data File, and browse to that
archive file. It will appear in your folder list and you can see if there is
anything in it. If not, try running the Inbox Repair Tool against it to see
if it finds any errors. Search your drive for a file called scanpst.exe and
run it. Allow the program to make a backup of your file before it makes any
changes.
