Does anyone know why Outlook doesn't archive old items in
Calendar that should fall within the archive settings
date range?

Ta

Check the Modified date on the items that aren't being archived as you think
they should. That's the date Outlook uses to determine whether or not an
item is ready to be AutoArchived, and a simple action such as moving the
item to another folder can change the Modified date. More information and a
list of actions that change the Modified date can be found here:

You know, Jocelyn,I tried that and I understand it for e-
mails but I can't see how you can determine the modified
date in calendar. Do you have any more specific advice?

Jackie

You can do one of two things to determine the modified dates for calendar
items (or any other type of item for that matter):

1) Double-click the item to open it, select File | Properties, and look for
the Modified date value on the General tab; or

2) Switch to a table view of the folder, such as By Category, and add the
"Modified" field as a table column.

Hi

Yes that was me in the other thread. I'm not sure how
that happened...

I've done two things since I last posted. Firstly I
updated Outlook 2000 with Service Pack 3. Now, at last, I
can see that some of my calendar items have been
archived. Before I upgraded, I couldn't even see the
calendar in the archive pst. Now I can.

I've checked the modified date on the items as you
suggested. You are right. The modified date is preventing
them from being archived away. But I am not aware of
modifying those appointments.

My last question is this: I did perform a sync with a
psion around that time. Would that qualify as a modifying
action? If so, how can I prevent this? I synchronize
every week!

Jackie

The sync may have something to do with it. If you go back a little ways in
this thread (or scroll down in this message) to my first reply, you'll see a
link to a MSKB article dealing with this issue; in that article there is a
list of actions which can change modified dates. You may want to take a
look and see if you've recently done any of the things listed.
