archives old documents

I have windows XP. Regularly old documents are being
archived.
I do not seem able to find and open these archives.

I identified two files within documents and settings, but
I cannot open any of those files. Thanks if you could
help.

Windows XP does not archive old documents. Are you referring to the
"archive" bit in file properties? If so, that just indicates that the file
has changed since last backup or that the file has never been backed up by a
backup program.

What files did you find that you cannot open? Please include extension.
