In my new job, they use Windows 2000 and Outlook XP.
I read about Archive (cool) and found from the help desk that this feature
does not work (boo hoo).

Someone else showed me the File | Archive feature and it worked on their PC
but when I tried it 3 times, it once made the folder and subfolder but
nothing inside, second time all files, third time nothing. It seems very
glitchy. Each time I tried this I removed the Archive.pst from the folder
view and the hard drive.

This other user ended up having about 15 different Arhive folders in her
folder view - how come? I thought it would append emails to the one PST file
once created?

In otherwords, I need to get emails out of Outlook and to my personal drive
(F:). Is Archive the way to do it? does it work or is it buggy? Does it move
or copy them?

Any other suggestions on backing up or removing emails to another location
would be appreciated.

Auto Archive works on the modified date of the item. For instance moving or
editing a file changes the modified date.

It moves the file to the pst-file you've got configured for AutoArchive. It
appends the original file each time you run it.

I haven't found it buggy but I don't use it either as I keep my mailbox
clean :-) For more info on this see;

Note that storing pst-files on a network share is not recommended or
supported by Microsoft.

Tips of the month:
-Setting Permissions on a Mailbox
-Create an Office XP CD slipstreamed with Service Pack 3

Storing pst files is not recommended or supported by Microsoft? Can you
share why not? And perhaps where I might go to find more information?
