A user left the company, so I am trying to archive his whole mailbox into a
PST file to burn to CD. I have chosen the root of the Mailbox, and it seems
that all folders have been archived (I asked Outlook to archive everything
upto 1st Mar 2004- everything!), except for the Contacts folder, which is
still in the mailbox.

Why can't I archive it?

Because the contacts folder is not set up to be archived. Archive is the
wrong function for this. You should be exporting instead.

You don't have to specifically move things to and "Archive" PST. If his
default delivery location was Exchange, create a new PST and simply copy
everything to it. If his delivery location was a PST, just copy that PST to
CD.

Thanks Brian. Is there a way to copy EVERYTHING, to a PST keeping the
original folder structure?

So, the folders are on the Exchange server? If not, just copy the PST. It
contains the entire folder structure. If everything is on and Exchnage
server, open a new PST (File>New>Personal Folders file or Outlook Data Fle
[depending on version]), right-click on each of the top-level items in
Exchange (i.e., Calendar, Inbox, etc.), drag them to the new PST, and choose
"Copy". When you're done, close the PST (right-click on it and choose
"Close"), exit Outlook and copy the PST.
