Is 17,500 is a bad result for my setup?

AMD 2000XP,512k ram, powercolour 9800pro.

I'm suspecting it is. What could be wrong?

Turn off FSAA and Anistropic filtering, move all sliders to left
(performance).. I get 34,000 with a softmodded 9500 (NP) .

G Patricks

That dropped my score down to 16,000 :(

Could be the 512kb of RAM...

:-)

Try it with a Xp 3200 and you will get 30 grand plus.

Yeah... it seems the XP2000 is holding up the card....

XP2000 are nice processors..but a bit slow for nowadays..

I'm running a ATi 9700 Pro o/c'd to 333 memory, 351 core on a Athlon64 3000
@ 2000mhz and am getting 37,965 from aquamark

So you think it's the processor? Not the fact I have 1/2 gig ram? I'm seeing
reports of 44k average for a 9800pro.. I'm getting just about 17k..

So you think an extra 512k RAM will bring me up to the 40 thousand + scores
I read about with 9800 pro's ?

Damn.. I'm not seeing much difference between this card and my old 8500 :(

512MB should be enough for Aquamark3. Go to Aquamark site and search for
similar spec machines to yours and see if you compare. With some clever
searches you can also check out the relative performance gains for your next
hardware upgrade too :-p

Check the units... you're out by 3 orders of magnitude... you barely need
himem.sys yet :-p

It's the CPU. Honestly.

Are you sure your running in at lest 4x AGP? There has to be something up
with your system. I don't buy that you need more ram, or that's it's your
CPU. I'm running a 2Ghz P4 and I get 30,714 and that's with 4x AA and 4x tri
Aniso. What do you have your AGP Aperture set at in your BIOS? Is it at lest
128MB? JLC

64MB is fine for this card in the bios ... in fact it is fine for most
cards o)

My bios auto sets it to 8x AGP and 128mb aperture. I've just formatted my
drive reinstalled XP, installed latest direct x and catalysts and I'm still
getting around 17k :(
