I installed the three security patches released on April 13, and then the
trouble started. Installation went smoothly until I was instructed to
restart my computer to complete the installation. Restarting took about 15
minutes, and from that point on, my computer operated at about 1/100 normal
speed in all respects. I finally decided to uninstall the three patches.
That took almost five hours. (About 15 minutes to boot, another 15 minutes
to get to the Uninstall Program feature in Control Panel, and almost an hour
to complete each uninstall.) After the 1st and 2nd uninstalls, the slow
performance was no better. But when I finally uninstalled the last of the
patches, everything returned to normal. Now, of course I am vulnerable to
whatever problems these patches were to cure, but at least I have a
functioning computer again. Thanks a lot, Microsoft.

Same issue here. I have not yet completed the
uninstall. I have another computer that I installed the
same patches, it's fine. no issues.

These patches are basically security issues. So long as you have a good
firewall, you shouldn't need them. I haven't applied any to Win2K Pro
SP.4 - and if they're really important, they'll issue SP.5, perhaps.
