apps open when shouldnt

Am running xp pro and lately small apps keep opening out
of the blue.
Things like Calculator or MediaPlayer open for no reason,
can anyone help.

This can also happen if you're running any speech recognition software;
sometimes the PC will minsinterpret background noise as spurious commands.

Okay, all virus software updated and run, including Adaware and etc.
The problem is still there.
I have checked all start-up situations and all is fine, including msconfig.
This has really got me stumped. I believe it has the hallmarks of
a parasite rather than a virus but adaware and similar say everything
is fine; sure appreciate any solutions or input you may have.

I hadnt even thought of anything like that, good call, but unfortunately
nothing like that is happening..... hope you have some other
possibilities because I am all out.
