apps not detected by MS program?

I was getting some odd popups despite the presence of the
MS spyware app running in my taskbar. So I installed and
ran two other apps and they reported a slew of mal-
programs / cookies on my PC.

NoAdware v3.0:
\windows\java.exe
\windows\unwise.exe
\windows\system\kyf.dat
'clickthebutton'

and others.
PcOrion:
shows I have cookies for
Cassandra
Gator
xupiter

and more..

Why isn't the ms app reporting these?

This is always one of the thorns in my side about the
adware/spyware problem. I read in a PC magazine, can't
remember which one, that no single application will find
everything. I was using Spybot search and Destroy and
one other and they failed to find the programs that MS AS
found. And Vice Versa. You have to literally run
multiple apps to find everything, ans still the success
rate is only about 70%

I truly believe the governement is going to have to crack
down on this. It is blatent racketerring. Like the old
Mafia Protection. I use to get popups from companies
that were advertising anti-popup apps.. If that isnt
racketeering what is?

One reason why this situation differs from, say, viruses, is the lack of
industry cooperation in defining spyware. There have been previous attempts
at such cooperation which have failed. The current effort involves
something called the Antispyware Coalition:

http://www.antispywarecoalition.org/

They've published a PDF file attempting to define spyware and are soliciting
public comment through August 12th, with a follow-up revised definition
expected in early Fall.
