Appointments Not Tracking

Outlook 2002 - When I create Appointments and the recipients accept or
decline, these responses are not tracking on the tracking tab, nor am I
receiving notification of same.

I have tried the following:
deleted c:\documents and settings\username\microsoft\outlook\outcmd.dat
ran detect and repair
check to make sure that everything under exchange mailbox is going to mailbox
and not pst (tools | email accounts | view or change existing email accounts
| deliver new email to mailbox (not pst)
user does occassionally use webb access but makes the appointments from her
mailbox (not OWA)

I have search and searched the internet but have found nothing. Any ideas?

No that wasn't it. I even tried to recreate on my PC the scenario with
delegates and the tracking worked. The user has SP2 as well.

Does the client receive the responses back? and if so, does the client open
the responses (to allow them to process)?

Is it only responses from this one client to you that do not process?
Or
Is it all responses on the one client that do not process?

Recreating on your PC will not be effective. You need to trouble shoot this
from the client's profile that is experiencing the problem.

No responses to the few appointments were ever received by the client. It
appears that none of her appointments are tracking on the tab though.

The reason I ask about delegates (In the client's profile) is because there
is a little box on the delegates tab that if it is checked, ALL appts will go
to the delegate and none will stay in the client. It really sounds like this
is very probable and whoever she has selected as her client is not processing
her appts.

The other possiblity is her options may need to be reconfigured. If you open
(ON HER MACHINE IN HER PROFILE)
- Tools menu
- Options
- Email Options
Click her TRACKING OPTIONS... button
Compare what she has selected to your own profile and see if she may have
something amiss.
Also check her ADVANCED OPTIONS... button
Does she have a check mark next to:
In folders other than the mailbox, save replies with the Original Message.
And just check all the settings and compare them to your own profile.

It may take a few tries to get these settings balanced back to normal.

I checked all her settings and compared to mine. They were all the same.
She does have a delegate but the option is not checked to send meeting
requests and resopnses only to delegate.

What is the pupose of the "Delegate" that the client currently has?
Is it necessary to have given "Delegate" rights to this person or was
her intent to just give that person access to see her calendar?
Delegates have the right to send mail AS the person who gives them
that right. This is not usually necessary unless the person given
"Delegate" rights is going to be processing the clients meetings or
mail for them.

Therefore, if the sole reason for placing that person on the "Delegates"
tab was to give them access to see the calendar, I would remove their
name from the Delegates tab, and simply Right-click the Calendar
folder and set permissions there to "Reviewer".

If the client is receiving the responses back from the folks she is
inviting, she needs to open the response(s) to have it "tally" on her
meeting Tracking tab. Just receiving it is not enough (unless her
Outlook configuration is set up to automatically process responses.

You say she is not receiving any responses. Have you checked with
the folks that were invited to see if they were responding?

If they say they are, then you need to track that back to the client.

First, I would make sure that the client is not trying to process these
responses
using OWA. She should only use her Outlook client for Meeting processing.

Second, I would check the Rules and Options AGAIN for anything that may
be amiss.

Third, check the clients options TOOLS | OPTIONS
- E-mail Options button
- Advanced E-mail Options button
Look for a check mark next to "In folders other than the Inbox, save replies
with original message"
If this is turned on, turn it off. Her responses may be going back to the
Calendar
folder and just sitting there unseen. (If this is so, write me back for
instructions)

Another thing to check is: If the client and her delegate are set to use
CACHE
mode or OFFLINE. Neither of which is recommended if there are delegates
involved.

Ok. If I create an appointment and email notification is on and I happen to
see it and click Yes to read new message, then it is tracking but if I miss
the new message notification or it is too soon after receiving a prior
message, then it doesn't track.

I turned off the new message notification and place the envelop icon in the
system tray to indicate when the user has a new message. It did not track
this way either.

I checked for spyware and viruses, I ran another detect and repair. Any
other ideas?

The key word here is READ the message. The message(reply) has to be
opened(read) to have it track on the tracking tab. I will go a little
further
and say that you have to open it from the INBOX prior to moving it any-
where else too. If you move it to ANY other folder (example: Deleted
Items or Janes stuff) then open it, it will not track.

that's what I'm finding out BUT the big issue is this ... it isn't ever
showing up in her InBox. If she doesn't click on the Read the Received
Message then she just never gets notified. Any idea why she may not ever get
