On the entry screen for an appointment thier is a field bottom left for
"Contacts" which i click and it brings up a list for my contacts. Can
somebody please explain what this can be used for. i am unsure how this field
is used.

Why not try it? Select a contact and see what happens.

You can use that field to link not just appointments, but any kind of Outlook items, to one or more contacts. With appointments, it's handy when you want to have a link without creating a formal meeting request. The link allows you to double-click the contact and see all their details. Conversely, the appointment will show on the contact's Activities page.

Many thanks, that has certainly made it clearer. Only one question, what is
the activities page??

Open a Contact and you'll see 5 tabs (pages) about them. One of these is
the Activities page/tab.

This is dependant on your version - please post it when you ask questions as
often the responses are very much version specific.

I used this extensively in Outlook 2003; have just upgraded to Outlook 2007
but cannot easily find a way to continue to do this - does anybody know how
please?
