Applying video effects to multiple objects

Is anyone aware of a way to apply an effect to more than one object at a
time?? I can't seem to select multiple pictures and apply an effect. For
example, I have a series of pictures and I want to add a "Fade in From White"
to them all and I have to do each individually. Doing a batch seems like a
basic function, but perhaps it is not included for one reason or another?
THANKS for your help!!

select them all on the storyboard... control-A... then pick the effect and
right click to add it, and it should go to them all.

Thanks for your reply, PapaJohn. When I 'Select All' and then right-click on
an Effect, the mutiple selection highliighting disappaears, leaving no
picture selected. Meanwhile, I did select "Copy" after right-clicking the
effect, and THEN I highlighted all the pics and did "Paste".... this
actually seemed to apply the effect to all the pictures. Curiously, the "Fade
in from White", for example, is much slower and takes double the time to
dissolve than when the effect is applied one picture at a timie. That seems
bizarre. The other drawback is that while you can "Paste" an effect to
multiple pics (nevermind that the effect seems to perform differently), there
is no apparent way to REMOVE that effect from multiple pics if you change
your mind, since there is no way to "Paste" a null effect, essentially.
Maybe I am still missing something, but please give your instrucitons a try
and let me know if they work for you. I'm using an XP system.
THANKS.

Maybe you just need a few more details...
(and yes...this works for me on WinXP)

Try this...

Ok....all pics are on the timeline...

Change to Storyboard view...

Go to....Edit / Select All...
(at least one had to be selected first)

With all pics selected...right click
the Effect / Transition you wish to
add and from the menu...choose...
"Add To Storyboard"

Solutions that work for

Proceed at your own risk

The selected group appears visually to be unselected as you move up to the
collection of effects, but they usually are still selected and adding the
item with the right mouse click and "add to storyboard" will work.

The Undo button will take them all off... if you decide soon enough after
adding them. Beyond that, save the project just before the batch apply and
reopen it if you are too far past the undoing.
