Hi,
I would like to add another menu bar to the left of my webpage and have the
bar appear in EVERY page of my website. Do I have to copy and paste this new
bar to all 300 plus pages or is there a way to have this bar appear in all of
them by some other way? I also would like to make a "spacing" change to my
original menu bar - same thing, do I have to make this change to all pages
manually or is there some other way to apply this change on all pages??

Thanks in advance.

How was the original menu bar added to your pages? Are you using shared borders?

Use an include.

I have used frames with no spacing on the frame borders. That has worked
okay in the past. Does limit you on space. But, it can do the trick.

Hi Thomas,

I added a web component and built the menu bar that way. When I add an item
to that bar, I know it adds it to all pages, but when I change the format
(like the line spacing) it seems to only change that one page. Below the
original menu, I want to add another menu bar and hopefully will not have to
do it to all pages? Can I list my website address, so you can look at it or
is that not allowed on here?

Check the helpfiles for some more information on include pages.

Sound like you are using Shared Borders, however if you provide a URL to your site, we can check to
be sure.

For the change in the original menu bar, you can do a Find & Replace in all
pages, substituting the new code for the old code.
In the future, includes or dynamic web templates are the way to go. Good luck.

Hi
this is great for what you are doing, but I have the same question only under
a different situation.
I have a real estate web site, at the very bottom it says:
This site was last updated on: (let's say) Thursday June 7, 2007
what I would like to know in plain English please is there a
way that I can just change the last part, day and date as needed??
as of right now it is really a hassel as I have typed the words in
Paint Shop Pro and after they are done, I change them into a .gif
and then upload that to the site ever time I need to change the
date. Tehre has to be an easier way, right???

From FP help, searched on "time":

Add a time stamp to a page
Add a time stamp to a page to display the time and/or date the page
was last changed. For example, a time stamp lets site visitors know
whether the information on your site has changed since their last
visit.

In Page view, position the insertion point where you want to place a
time stamp.
On the Insert menu, click Date and Time.
Specify the type of time stamp to display.
Specify a format for the date and for the time.

Hi thomas,

my URL is http://www.aceofshadeswc.com

I have looked up how to use the "include page" component. But am still stuck
on how to get this page included in the entire website. When I pratice, it
includes the page on that spot where I ask it to "include". But no other
page. Any ideas?

Hi Ida
Ok I went into FP and checked all I could find under "Time"
I see what you are talking about and that would work, but
not exactly for what I need it for.
if you want take a look at www.fliehmanrealty.com
after the home page go to the property listing page and pick
one of the properties to view. (In fact the time date stamp is also
on the property listing page all the way at the bottom) then look all the
way at the bottom.
see the little date stamp item that is under the link buttons?
that is the line that I would like to change, but it has to be the
same ON EVERY PAGE and doing it the way you suggested I would have
to open and then resave every page in order to get it to work.
what I'm going right now if you look at the sorce code it I have that
two lines of text convereted to a .gif and just a hyperlink on each page.
that way every two weeks or so I can just open the .gif change the
day and the date and then upload the new .gif and each page will pick
it up. I was just hoping that there was a way I could just type in the date
and it would be displayed on each page. and it would let me put in the
wording that I needed as you can see by this one it is very customized.
thank you for your help though your idea will work on my private web site
as it is a genealogy site and only the pages that are changed need to be
updated.
thank you again.

Personally, I'd make a bottom border with your copyright info. Your
pages are short enough to display the entire page w/o vertical
scrolling, I wouldn't worry about having your navigation buttons at
the btm of every page. Leave the counter out of the btm border.

Include the btm border on every page, then just open and save the
"bottom.htm" file when you want to show the current update info.

On any page, right click, select "shared borders", check the "bottom"
box and the "apply to all pages" box. The file will live in the folder
named _bottom.htm

Oops, a folder named "_borders"
