apply to selected slides has disappeared

we are in the testing phase of migrating from 2000 to 2003 and are tearing
our respective hairs out! one of the "new" problems is that the "apply to
selected slides" option seems to have disappeared from the list when clicking
on the arrow to the right of the master template. What's happened? What did
we do?

If you're in Master View, you will have different options on that arrow
drop-down than you will in Normal View. Is that it?

Hmmm - did you select one (or more) slides? If you position the cursor
between two slides of the preview pane, this option is greyed out.

The other possibility: You can disable the new features of PPT 2003 under
Tools - Options - Edit. If you ticked "Disable multiple masters" there, you
can't use a second master and the option is missing in the Design Task Pane.

Thanks guys, for your prompt responses. I think we had the "disable multiple
masters" checked at that point -- it's back to being unchecked. That appears
to have fixed THAT problem (there are more coming up, though - lol).
