When you create a rule to block messages with certain words you given the
opportunity of applying all rules to that newsgroup. What I don't see is
the opportunity to apply all rules now to ALL newgroups. Can't this be
done?

You don't like the "For all messages" option in Conditions? <eg>

If your rules are set up following the advice provided by PA Bear, then
doing the following should allow you to apply any (or all) of your rules
to all of your subscribed newsgroups on a given server in "one fell
swoop":

- Tools | Message Rules | News
- Click the "Apply Now" button
- Select the rule(s) you want to apply or, if you want all rules to be
applied, click the "Select All" button
- Next to the "Apply to Folder:" section, click the "Browse..." button
- Select the newsgroup you want the rule(s) to be run against or, if you
want to apply the rule(s) to all of your subscribed groups on a
particular server, select the news server name instead of an individual
group name
- Click the "OK" button
- Click the "Apply Now" button and wait for the rule(s) to be applied

I tried this earlier tonight and it worked on my Windows ME machine.
Hopefully it will work for you too!
