Our book was INDEXED USING WORD 2003 INDEX. Now we have added 5 NEW CHAPTERS.
Is there a way to apply the words that have been indexed to include
occurrences in the new chapters?

Does word 2007 offer new indexing features that I can help in this?

There are no new indexing features in 2007, and none are needed for
this problem.

The original index was created by marking entries in the text. This
process inserts XE fields in the text, which you can see if you turn
on nonprinting characters by clicking the ¶ button.

To index the new chapters, you need to mark the entries in the new
text. Assuming they're in the same document file with the old
chapters, you can select the text in the existing text that has an XE
entry next to it, open the Mark Entry dialog, and click the Mark All
button; that will add the same XE field to all instances of the same
word(s). (Be careful, as this is a very blunt tool; you may not really
want an entry for *every* instance of the term.)

When that's done, update the INDEX field and it will include the new
entries.
