All of a sudden this problem developed... I'll close a program down, but it
is still listed in Processes in Task Manager. I can't reopen the program
until I End it in Processes/Task Manager. A real pain.

I have Win XP Home Edition - SP - 3. I haven't installed any new software
lately. Probably have gotten some new Windows updates though?

Help!!

All programs or specific ones?
Notepad?
Wordpad?
Word?
Excel?
Internet Explorer?
FireFox?

Please be specific. Also check your add or remove programs control panel
and see what updates (check the Show Updates checkbox) were recently
installed by date and perhaps remove them (after turning off automatic
updates.)

Seems to be all programs... Word, Excel, AOL, Netscape, Outlook, ACT2000,
etc.

Okay, I'll check the updates...

I am having same problem. I recently reinstalled Windows XP, MS Office,
Firefox. Now I get "lost" processes all the time. I am running SP3 with all
updates.

I have the same annoyance since summer for eg. Word, Excel, Outlook,
Photoshop Lmnts, Mapsource whereas Internet Explorer closes as does my
executables developed in Borland Delphi.
Have to manually close the 3-4 versions of the process running before
starting next time. Max 1-2 versions running permit a consequtive start.

I hope someone will recognize how to solve this.
